WACO, Texas - The Baylor volleyball team will hold its "Meet the Bears" scrimmage Sunday, Aug. 20, at 3 p.m. at Marrs McLean Gymnasium on the Baylor campus. Admission is free and drinks and snacks will be provided.
"This is a great opportunity for the fans to not only meet the players but to see our re-modeled practice facility," head coach Jim Barnes said. "We want to give our fans to get to know our new faces before they see them in live action."
The Bears will play a three-game intrasquad match, followed by a poster autograph session.
Over the summer, a new wooden floor was installed and the walls were re-decorated in Marrs McLean, giving the 50-year old building a much-needed facelift. For the scrimmage, 100 seats will be brought in to accommodate the spectators. The gym is located on the main campus on Fifth Street across from the Bill Daniel Student Center.
Baylor opens the season against UC-Davis at the Cal Molten Classic Aug. 25 in Berkeley, Calif. The Bears will also face Montana and projected top-10 nationally-ranked California Aug. 26. Baylor's home opener is the following weekend as it hosts Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico, Houston and Arkansas-Little Rock in the Clarion Invitational Sept. 1-2.
