Baylor volleyball takes its school-record 10-match winning streak on the road as it faces Iowa State in Big 12 Conference action Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum. The live audio broadcast will be available on BaylorBears.com at 6:15 p.m.
Baylor is led by senior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc, who ranks ninth in the Big 12 with 4.10 kills per game and has recorded six double-doubles. Senior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young and freshman middle blocker Anna Breyfogle each rank among the top 10 in the league in both blocks and hitting percentage. Junior libero Kristen Schramek ranks fourth in the conference with 4.58 digs per game.
The Bears are coming off a 3-1 victory over No. 24 Kansas State in the Big 12 opener Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center. Freshman setter Taylor Barnes posted the first triple-double of her young career, setting season highs with 11 kills, 15 digs, 52 assists and four service aces. LeBlanc and Guilliard-Young each had double-doubles.
Iowa State is led by Katie Jessen with 3.85 kills per game and Lauren Cummings with 3.06 kills per game. Erin Boeve averages 2.89 kills per game and leads the Big 12 with 1.67 blocks per game. Katie Churm ranks seventh in the league with 4.05 digs per game.
The Cyclones were idle Wednesday and will face the Bears in their first Big 12 match of the season. Iowa State has won three in a row, including a 3-1 victory over its last time out against South Dakota State last Saturday.
Saturday's match marks the 23rd meeting between Baylor and Iowa State, with the Bears leading the all-time series 17-5. Baylor has won 14 of the last 16 meetings. The two teams split last year's meeting with each claiming road victories. In the last meeting, the Bears outlasted the Cyclones in Ames in five games on Oct. 29, 2005. The Bears have won all 10 previous meetings in Ames.
The Bears return to action at home against Texas Tech Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
