WACO, Texas - Baylor stunned top-ranked Nebraska by winning game one, but couldn't keep the heat on as the Huskers rebounded for a 3-1 (30-32, 30-18, 30-21, 30-24) victory Saturday afternoon at the Ferrell Center.
"This is the second match in a row that we have grabbed control in the first game and gave it back to the other team," head coach Jim Barnes said. "We need to play three full games. If we do that, I believe we can play with anyone in the conference."
Freshman outside hitter Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) benefited from a position change and led the Bears with a season-high 15 kills. Senior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc (Tampa, Fla.) had her 11th double-double of the season with 11 kills and a match-high 17 digs, while senior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young (Berkeley, Calif.) had 10 kills and six blocks.
"We were so geared up for this game and really wanted to come out and play our hearts out against the No. 1 team in the nation," Sanders said. "The first game was so intense I think we lost some focus and intensity after the game one win, but it really showed us that we can play with anyone in the nation."
