Baylor volleyball hits the road to face Texas State Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. at Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos, Texas. The live audio broadcast on BaylorBears.com begins at 6:45 p.m. - the broadcast is free, but a login and password is still required.
The Bears swept all four of their matches to claim the Clarion Invitational title at home this past weekend. Freshman setter Taylor Barnes was named the most valuable player, while senior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc and senior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young were named to the all-tournament team.
LeBlanc leads the team and ranks fifth in the Big 12 Conference with 4.45 kills per game, while junior libero Kristen Schramek leads the team and ranks 10th in the league with 3.64 digs per game. Freshman middle blocker Anna Breyfogle ranks third in the conference with 1.63 blocks per game, while Guilliard-Young ranks fifth with 1.60.
The Bobcats split their two matches at the UTPA Tournament, downing UT-Pan American, 3-1, on Friday, before losing to Big 12 foe Texas Tech, 3-0, on Saturday. Lawrenia Brown leads Texas State with 6.05 kills per game, while Kacey Wimpy averages 4.21 digs per game.
The Bears return to action in the Austin Bank/SFA Volleyball Tournament Friday and Saturday in Nacogdoches, Texas. Baylor will face Arkansas State and host Stephen F. Austin Friday, followed by Tennessee State and its second meeting of the year with Houston Saturday.
