NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Baylor enters the Austin Bank/SFA Volleyball Invitational on a five-match win streak as it takes on Arkansas State, host Stephen F. Austin, Tennessee State and a rematch with Houston Friday and Saturday at William R. Johnson Coliseum. The free audio broadcast will be available live for all four matches through CSTV All-Access on BaylorBears.com, beginning 15 minutes prior to each match.
Baylor faces Arkansas State at noon on Friday, followed by Stephen F. Austin at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Bears face Tennessee State at 2:30 p.m., followed by Houston in the tournament finale at 7:30 p.m.
The Bears fought off Texas State and impoved their record to 7-1 on the season with a 3-1 (25-30, 30-21, 30-19, 30-26) victory Tuesday night in San Marcos, Texas. Freshman middle blocker Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas) led Baylor with a career-high 17 kills, while senior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young (Berkeley, Calif.) added 13 and senior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc (Tampa, Fla.) posted her third double-double of the season with 13 kills and 12 digs. With the victory, head coach Jim Barnes moved within three wins of 200 for his career.
LeBlanc leads the team and ranks seventh in the Big 12 Conference with 4.25 kills per game, while Guilliard-Young and Breyfogle rank among the top 10 in the league in both hitting percentage and blocks. Junior libero Kristen Schramek (San Antonio, Texas) leads the team and ranks seventh in the conference with 3.88 digs per game.
The tournament is the Bears' final tuneup before the Big 12 opener, as Baylor hosts Kansas State Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
