Baylor returns to Waco as the Bears play host to Texas Tech on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
Over the weekend, Baylor lost 3-0 to top-ranked Nebraska in Lincoln. The Cornhusker offense had one of its most efficient matches of the season, hitting .500 as a team, while the Bears' offense struggled all night, hitting .064 for the match.
Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) led the way for the Bears with 10 kills, the only Baylor player in double-figures. Ashlie Christenson (Cleburne, Texas) added four kills while Amanda Modglin (Houston, Texas) and Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas) each tallied three kills.
Again, the serving game was the source of the struggles for Baylor as the Bears did not record a service ace and committed five service errors. Baylor also had nine receiving erros, leading to easy points for Nebraska. Sarah Pavan recorded a match-high 13 kills for Nebraska while Christina Houghtelling and Kori Cooper added 12 kills apiece. The Cornhuskers recorded 53 set assists on 57 kills and held a 50-23 advantage in digs.
Texas Tech enters the match with a 7-8 overall record, 1-5 in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders have lost five straight conference matches after opening league play with a 3-2 win over Colorado. Texas Tech took Oklahoma to five games two weeks ago, and took a game off Texas and Iowa State. MIchelle Flores has recorded 187 kills to lead the Red Raiders, while Emily Zeigler has a hitting percentage of .360 this season.
Baylor will have Saturday off before returning to action next Wednesday as the Bears travel to Austin to play Texas at 6:30 p.m. at Gregory Gym. The live audio broadcast will be available on BaylorBears.com at 6:20 p.m.
