WACO, Texas - Anna Breyfogle has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for matches of Oct. 22-28, the league office announced on Monday.

For the week, Breyfogle tallied 14 total blocks in six games to help the Bears to a pair of road victories, including sweeps of TCU and Texas Tech. She also registered 22-of-39 hitting and one error to compile a .538 attack mark.

At TCU, Breyfogle had six total blocks and contributed a match-high 15 kills with no errors (.625). She then recorded eight total blocks and seven kills on .400 hitting to lead BU to its win over Tech - the Bears' first road sweep in Big 12 action since the 2001 campaign.

The Buda, Texas sophomore led the conference in blocks per game (2.33) on the week, and is the overall leader this season averaging 1.67 blocks, which ranks seventh nationally.

The award marks the third Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week nomination for Breyfogle, the only time a Baylor player has received multiple player of the week honors in the same season. Only Elisha Polk (three selections from 1997-99) has as many player of the week honors.

Baylor returns to action on Wednesday as the Bears play host to Kansas at 6:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center. The live audio broadcast can be found on BaylorBears.com starting at 6:20 p.m.
