TEXAS TECH 85 - BAYLOR 74
Feb. 28, 2007 - United Spirit Arena, Lubbock, Texas

POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
"There are certain games you feel like you lose and there are certain games you feel the other team deserved to win. You take the three seniors scoring 55 points, we told our guys, `That's how you're supposed to perform on senior night,' and credit them for shooting 56 percent for the game and really playing an outstanding game. As far as our performance goes, I'm very disappointed, at the free throw line, 7-14, you can't win on the road like that. You can't win on the road with 18 turnovers, and defensively we were very poor for the first 12 minutes of the game."

On the performance of forward Jon Plefka in two games against his team this season:
"Since he's gotten here, I've thought that he's a tough match-up for us because with our bigs, he's quicker than they are. He doesn't play inside so most of the damage is 15-18 feet and our guys helped so much on Zeno and Jackson, it's tough for them to recover back to a guy like Plefka. For some reason, he really plays well against us and whenever I've seen him, I always think he did great."

Texas Tech Head Coach Bob Knight
"We went in at the half and Baylor had made a good comeback throughout the first half and we wound up with the three point lead. We got started out well, which I think is essential and we don't always do that in the second half. I think that our play in the second half, when we had to have it in a game that I think was essential for us to win, was as good as we've had at any time this year."

On facing Baylor for the second time this season:
"The way Baylor plays against us in the two games that we've played them, it's amazing that they've just won three games in this league. We knew it was going to be a tough game, we knew it was going to be a difficult 40 minutes for us, and with the exception of us getting beat on their offensive boards, I thought we basically played pretty well."

Texas Tech Senior forward Jon Plefka
On his solid performances against Baylor this year:

"I really don't know what it is. They are a very talented team, despite their record, they played us very hard tonight and that was a very tough game. I really can't explain how I play against this team, but I'm lucky I played this well. I haven't played this well the last three or four games, so I had to contribute to the team and this was a good game to do it."

On his last game in the United Spirit Arena:
"The season is still going on and that's more important than this game. Iowa State's our next game and we need to take care of business and hopefully get into the tournament."
