Monceaux Named to WCWS All-Tournament Team

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --- For her performance at the NCAA Women's College World Series, Baylor softball senior first baseman Ashley Monceaux was named to the WCWS all-tournament team the NCAA announced on Wednesday night.
The left-handed, lead-off hitter went 5-for-10 with a run scored and a RBI to lead the way for the Lady Bears as Baylor finished in a tie for fifth at the national championship after a win over No. 4 Texas A&M and losses to eventual national champion Arizona and No. 2 Northwestern. In addition, the senior did not make an error in 20 fielding chances throughout the championship.
In nine games at the NCAA Softball Championship, Monceaux paced the way for the Lady Bears, leading the team with a .500 (14-for-28) batting average, 12 runs scored, four home runs with 11 RBI. The senior posted an incredible 1.036 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage as Baylor made its first-ever appearance at the WCWS in school history.
The WCWS marked the end of Monceaux's career in a Baylor uniform as the senior had the most successful season for a position player in school history. Monceaux, who earned third-team NFCA All-America honors, set single-season school records in batting average (.413), hits (81), doubles (19), home runs (20), RBI (71), slugging percentage (.816), on-base percentage (.508) and games played and started (67) as she helped lead the Lady Bears to their first-ever Big 12 Conference regular-season championship.
Arizona captured the national title on Wednesday night, defeating Tennessee, 5-0, to claim the best-of-three series over the Lady Vols, 2-1. Junior pitcher Taryne Mowatt of Arizona was named the championship's most outstanding player.
