LUFKIN, Texas - Baylor sophomore Kristen Hendrix saw an early lead disappear but birdies at hole Nos. 15 and 16 and a par at No. 17 gave her a 2 & 1 win over Austin's Kimberly Meck at the WTGA Texas State Amateur tournament at Lufkin's Crown Colony Country Club on Friday.
Hendrix was 2-up as Meck bogeyed five of the first eight holes. But Meck rallied and won Nos. 9, 10 and 12 with pars to take the lead at 1-up, before Hendrix got hot with the putter to take the championship.
