With the volleyball season home opener less than two weeks away, fans now have the opportunity to purchase season tickets to all 14 home matches in the new fan-friendly setup at the Ferrell Center.
Over the summer, new changes to the Ferrell Center have helped create one of the finest facilities in the nation. A new automated curtain system was installed, allowing the Ferrell Center to vary its seating capacity based on attendance. Spectators will be right on top of the action, offering fan a unique up-close experience of Big 12 volleyball.
"Our new venue will be a huge benefit," said head coach Jim Barnes. "The new system will help improve our home court advantage as well as create a better experience for our fans."
In addition to season tickets, fan will also have the opportunity to join the Quick Attack Club. Members will have access to team luncheons and special events as well as Baylor volleyball team gear.
After a season-opening weekend at the University at Buffalo Classic, the Bears return to Waco for their home opener against Texas State on August 28 at 6:30 p.m. Baylor then plays host to Stephen F. Austin, Mississippi State and Oregon on August 31 and September 1 as part of the Clarion Invitational.
Baylor returns eight letterwinners and five starters from last year's team that posted an 18-15 overall record, the Bears' first winning season since 2001. Baylor is led by preseason All-Big 12 selection Taylor Barnes (Arlington, Texas). Barnes along with Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) and Anna Breyfogle make up a trio of sophomores set to lead Baylor in 2007. Jim Barnes and his staff bring in six newcomers, marking his second straight nationally-ranked recruiting class.
"This team is full of hard working, first-class student-athletes who have put Baylor volleyball back on the national scene," said Barnes. "Our back-to-back nationally-ranked recruiting classes look forward to winning championships. I encourage the public to come see our home matches and cheer on our incredible athletes in our terrific new volleyball venue."
