Baylor volleyball hits to road to play its first Big 12 road match as the Bears face Kansas State on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Ahearn Field House.
The Bears enter the match following a 3-0 loss to Iowa State in their first conference match of the season on Wednesday. Iowa State got out to quick leads in each of the three games, as Baylor was able to take the lead on just one occasion (5-4 in game two).
Sarah Grace (Houston, Texas) recorded 25 digs on the night, setting a new Baylor record for digs in a three-game match. The previous record of 22 was set on five occasions, including three times by senior Kristen Schramek (San Antonio, Texas).
Amanda Modglin (Houston, Texas) recorded five kills with no hitting errors in 13 swings (.385) and added eight total blocks for the Bears. Haley Thomas was the top offensive producer for Baylor, tallying 12 kills.
Baylor recorded 12.5 total blocks, outblocking the league's top net defense team by one-half block. Iowa State recorded four more digs than the Bears (60-56), marking just the third time this season that a Baylor opponent has recorded more digs than the Bears.
Kansas State enters the match with a 9-2 overall record. The Wildcats won their Big 12 opener on Wednesday against Kansas 3-0. In its season-opener, Kansas State upset then-No. 14 Cal-Poly 3-2. Kansas State's two losses this season were to ranked opponents: 16th-ranked Hawaii and fifth-ranked UCLA.
