Final Stats

For the second time in three matches, Baylor finished 110 minutes of play all square as the Bears tied Iowa State, 0-0 on Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field. The tie moves Baylor to 4-5-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference, while Iowa State moves to 4-6-1 overall and 0-2-0 in Big 12 play.

"We had another great defensive effort today," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We did a much better job of attacking in the second half and created a lot more chances."

The shots came out just about even, with the Cyclones holding a 15-14 edge. However, the Baylor defense allowed only five shots during the final 65 minutes of play, firing off 13 of its own during that span.

Despite being credited with 10 shots in the opening half, the Cyclones never really threatened as a majority of the shots were taken outside the 18-yard box. Baylor's lone shot of the first half came off the foot of Bethany Johnston in the 23rd minute, but behind solid defensive play, the Bears ended the first half even on the scoreboard.

The Bears came out aggressive in the second half and nearly got on the board in the 55th minute, as a left-footed shot by Lotto Smith was saved by Iowa State's Ann Gleason. Baylor kept the pressure on the Cyclones, firing nine total shots in the second half to ISU's two, but ended regulation still scoreless.

Baylor's best chance of the night came in the 97th minute when Christine Clark broke loose for a one-on-one with Gleason, only to see the Iowa State keeper make a sliding block on Clark's attempt to score.

A similar scenario resulted on the other end in the 99th minute when Amanda Nimtz had a one-on-one with Baylor's Courtney Seelhorst, but Seelhorst made a great sliding stop of her own to preserve the shutout.

The Bears took three more shots in the second overtime, but could not find the back of the net as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

Johnston and Smith led the way offensively as each player had three total shots and one apiece on goal.

Baylor will remain home to take on Nebraska on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field.
