WACO, Texas - Taylor Barnes recorded eight kills, 28 set assists and 10 digs as Baylor swept TCU 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-22) on Tuesday night at the Ferrell Center. The match was Baylor's final non-conference match of the season, and extended its winning streak to two matches after a 3-0 sweep at Colorado on Saturday.
"This was a good non-conference match for us to play," said head coach Jim Barnes. "It gave us another match situation to play with our new lineup. We were inconsistent in our aggressiveness and energy, but we were able to limit our hitting errors. Katie [Sanders] and Taylor [Barnes] really took over for us when we needed it."
Barnes also served up three service aces as the Bears recorded 10 service aces, the most since tallying 16 aces against Prairie View A&M earlier this season. Barnes' eight kills came on an errorless 10 attempts. Her hitting percentage of .800 marks a new career high.
"We really treated this like we would a Big 12 match," said Taylor Barnes. "They are a strong team and they had a big upset last weekend, so we wanted to come out and play well. I thought we scrambled well tonight and our hitters were able to find spots around their block."
Katie Sanders led all players with 14 kills and no errors on 31 total attempts. Ashlie Christenson also recorded eight kills, while Allison King recorded six kills.
King, Brittany Ridenour and Ashley Byrd each tallied two service aces on the night, while Sanders added one ace.
Caitlyn Trice tallied a team-high 12 digs, while King and Barnes both added 10 digs. King has now recorded 10 or more digs in 21-straight matches.
Baylor outblocked TCU 5-1, with Byrd and Christenson leading the way with four blocks apiece.
Baylor returns to action on Saturday as the Bears play host to Texas A&M at 12 noon. The match is scheduled to have a live audio webcast on www.BaylorBears.com.
