Volleyball Set to Face Texas A&M

BAYLOR VOLLEYBALL PLAYS HOST TO TEXAS A&M

The Baylor volleyball team remains at home this weekend as the Bears play host to Texas A&M on Saturday at 12 noon at the Ferrell Center. The Bears are coming off a 3-0 sweep at home over TCU on Tuesday night in Baylor's final non-conference match of the season. The Bears tallied their fifth-straight win over the Horned Frogs, and have only lost one set to TCU in the all-time series. The sweep was the second-straight for Baylor, who earned a 3-0 win at Colorado last weekend. Katie Sanders leads Baylor with 321 kills this season, while five other Bears have topped 100 kills on the season. Taylor Barnes has collected 945 assists and a league-high 43 service aces. Anna Breyfogle leads the conference with 1.52 blocks per set, but has missed the last four matches with a dislocated shoulder. Freshman Allison King has recorded 367 digs this season and holds a 21-match streak with 10 or more digs. Texas A&M enters the match following a 3-1 win at home over Iowa State on Wednesday. During previous week, the Aggies pushing third-ranked Nebraska to five sets in College Station. Texas A&M's win over the Cyclones broke a three-match losing streak for the Aggies, with all three matches coming against ranked opponents. Mary Batis leads the way for Texas A&M with 317 kills, while Kristen Schevikhoven has recorded 721 assists. Batis leads the team with 258 digs, but two other Aggies have topped 200 digs for the season. Batis and Sarah Ammerman have recorded 18 service aces, while Darla Donaldson anchors the net defense with a 0.97 blocks per set average. LAST TIME AGAINST TEXAS A&M

Anna Breyfogle and Katie Sanders recorded double-doubles and Baylor rallied from a one-set deficit as the Bears defeated Texas A&M 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 25-18, 27-25) at G. Rollie White Coliseum. The win was the first this year when Baylor lost the first set. Prior to the match, the Bears were 0-5 in contests when they dropped the opening set. Sanders tallied 17 kills and 10 digs to record her eighth kill-dig double-double of the season. Ashlie Christenson also recorded 17 kills on the night, a new season high. Breyfogle connected on 12 kills on .478 hitting and added a season-high 12 total blocks, including two solos. The match marked the second time this season that Breyfogle recorded 10 or more blocks and marked her third double-double of the season. Taylor Barnes tallied 44 set assists to go along with six kills on 14 errorless attacks. Allison King recorded a match-high 17 digs, marking her 14th-straight match with 10 or more digs. Brittany Ridenour tallied 15 digs for the Bears. Barnes also added four blocks, while Sanders recorded three total blocks. Baylor outblocked Texas A&M 12.5-8 for the match.

LAST TIME OUT

Taylor Barnes recorded eight kills, 28 set assists and 10 digs as Baylor swept TCU 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-22) at the Ferrell Center. The match was Baylor's final non-conference match of the season, and extended its winning streak to two matches after a 3-0 sweep at Colorado on Saturday. Barnes also served up three service aces as the Bears recorded 10 service aces, the most since tallying 16 aces against Prairie View A&M earlier this season. Barnes' eight kills came on an errorless 10 attempts. Her hitting percentage of .800 marks a new career high. Katie Sanders led all players with 14 kills and no errors on 31 total attempts. Ashlie Christenson also recorded eight kills, while Allison King recorded six kills. King, Brittany Ridenour and Ashley Byrd each tallied two service aces on the night, while Sanders added one ace. Caitlyn Trice tallied a team-high 12 digs, while King and Barnes both added 10 digs. King has now recorded 10 or more digs in 21-straight matches. Baylor outblocked TCU 5-1, with Byrd and Christenson leading the way with four blocks apiece.
