CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Junior Denes Lukacs was eliminated from the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Friday at The Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va., with a loss in the round of 16. Lukacs, an at-large selection and the tournament's No. 2 seed, fell to 11th-ranked Steven Moneke of Ohio State.
Lukacs, ranked No. 2 and one of 29 ranked players participating in the tournament, saw his fall season end with a three-set loss to the Buckeye senior. Moneke won the first set 6-4 but Lukacs posted an impressive second-set win 6-1, to even the match. However, Moneke prevailed in the final stanza, 6-4, to move on to the tournament quarterfinals.
