HEAD COACH Scott Drew

Opening Statement...
" The big thing we were concerned with following last year's season was we needed to get better defensively and I think people who watched the game tonight saw that we have improved defensively. As long as it remains important to the players then we will be a very good team."

On opening night jitters...
"There are always jitters, that is why you have exhibition games. For players it is especially great to put on uniforms and play in front of a crowd; especially for the new guys. "

On the way the new guys played (Quicy Acy, Anthony Jones, and Fred Ellis)...
"I am very pleased with all three of them from the standpoint that they have come a long way defensively. They definitley add athleticism, add length and bring energy. They will just get better game by game. Their upside is tremendous."

On the focus for tonight's game...
"Tonight the main thing we were focusing on was defensive rebounding and assist to turnover ratio. A lot of times in exhibiton games, you give up a ton of transition points, you give up a ton of easy buckets and you don't block out very well. ut I think we were pretty good in all three."

Senior Kevin Rogers

On the defensive intensity tonight...
"Well you all know what happened last year. Not only from the game last year, but the season last year how everybody always said we didn't play defense. Coach Drew and his staff and the players, we made it a focal point, actually buckle down on defense and we reaped the benifits."

Senior Henry Dugat

On seeking revenge from last year ...
"Oh yeah definitely, we have been hearing it all week. We wanted to feed off that, but also we wanted to get better to see what we had to work on for this year. I think we showed we have been working on our defense, but we still feel we have got a little work to do."

Freshman Quincy Acy

On how he felt playing his first game at Baylor and his role on the team...
"(I felt) nervous... (My role is to do) the dirty jobs; running the floor, blocking shots, rebounding, dunking, those types of things... the intagibles."
