Baylor's Curtis Jerrells has been named to the All-District 9 first team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The junior guard from Austin leads the Bears in scoring assists and minutes played. He is averaging 15.3 points and 3.8 assists. Jerrells was selected by the league's coaches to the preseason All-Big 12 team. He was an honorable mention all-conference pick as a sophomore in 2006-07 and a freshman all-american as a rookie.
Jerrells is the first Baylor player to be honored with all-district distinction since Lawrence Roberts was named to the first team in 2003.
Joining Jerrells on the first team were D.J. Augustin of Texas, Martin Zeno of Texas Tech, Robert McKiver of Houston and Josh Carter of Texas A&M. The second team was made up of Sonny Weems (Arkansas), Ryan Bright (Sam Houston State), A.J. Abrams (Texas), Damion James (Texas), and Joseph Jones (Texas A&M).
