Recap | Box Score
Baylor head coach Steve Smith:
On tonight's game:
"For one of the first times in a while, we got some breaks, and they wound up being pretty important."
On Gregg Glime's performance:
"He's just competing at the plate. There isn't anybody that going to pitch to him that's going to be scared to death of him, but he'll compete, and if you make a mistake on something he can get to, he's doing a good job of getting to it. I just like the way he's playing defense. The guy is really good behind the plate at blocking a receiving."
On Shawn Tolleson's performance:
"I don't remember the last time I've seen that many opposite-field home runs. Three left-handers went the other way. They're a pretty good fastball hitting group, and Shawn gave them a walk and a hit batter. It's one thing when you give up solos, but when you give up three-run home runs, those can beat you. I was really hoping that he'd get through that sixth inning, but he just wasn't able to because they just wouldn't give in. They made him keep making pitches, got some two-strike hits, and they just wouldn't quit."
On going for the sweep tomorrow:
"We're a game below .500 and it's a chance to get back to .500. It's the first time we'll be wearing gold on a Sunday in quite a while."
Baylor sophomore C Gregg Glime:
On tonight's offensive performance:
"It was only a matter of time. We have so many great hitters on this team that it was hard to believe that people were going to keep shutting us down like they were. Tonight's an indication of what this team can do, and hopefully we'll jump on a roll now."
On Kansas closing the gap after Baylor had a 10-1 lead:
"It was scary. There were some pitches that were left up and they were hit out, but that happens. Being up a lot, you don't want to give in at all, and I don't think we did. They hit a couple of good pitches and that's just the way it went tonight."
Baylor sophomore DH Dustin Dickerson:
On tonight's offensive performance:
"We're just trying to stay more focused during the games because we know that we've not been living up to our potential. We're really trying to bear down and get some hits."
On giving Shawn Tolleson some run support:
"We started off the game really well and we gave him some run support. He did really well with it, and I was glad we could do that for him because it's a lot easier to pitch when you have run support and you're ahead by a lot."
On his two-run home run in the first inning:
"He'd thrown me two fastballs before that, and we had on a run-and-hit, so if he threw me a fastball anywhere close I was going to protect the runner. It was up and away, and I got a good piece of the barrel on it so it went out."
Baylor freshman RHP Shawn Tolleson:
On getting 12 runs of support from the Baylor offense:
"It was definitely good. I didn't have all of my stuff working for me today, so it feels nice when your hitters can go out there and score 12 runs."
On giving up four runs in the sixth inning:
"Their hitters made some adjustments and I didn't really adjust with that. I just kept with the fastball and it got hit around a little bit."
On going for the sweep tomorrow:
"It'll be nice to have a chance to go out for a sweep and a chance to get us back on track in the Big 12."
