Track and Field Qualifies 13 for Sunday Finals

BOULDER, Colo. -
The Baylor men's and women's track and field teams qualified 13 runners for Sunday's event finals on the second day of competition at the 2008 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Potts Field.
Trey Harts clocked the fastest qualifying time of the 200-meter preliminaries running 20.59 to earn the No. 1 seed in Sunday's event finals. Courtney Thomas ran a season-best time of 20.67 to earn the fifth-fastest time in the event and qualify for the finals.
Baylor earned the first- and third-fastest times in the men's 400-meter hurdles heading into Sunday's event finals. Robert Griffin ran a personal-best time of 49.73 to win his heat with the fastest time of the preliminaries.
Tiffany Townsend ran 23.12 in the women's 200 meters to clock the third-fastest time of the preliminaries. Katrina Taylor recorded her first NCAA Regional qualifying time of the season in the women's 400 meters, clocking 54.30 for the sixth-fastest time of the preliminaries.
The men had three of the top eight runners in the men's 400 meters. LeJerald Betters cruised to a time of 45.79 to win his heat with the second-fastest time overall. Quentin Iglehart-Summers had the sixth-fastest time at 46.32, while Marcus Boyd finished second to Betters in the second heat with a personal-best time of 46.48 to earn the seventh-best time of the preliminaries.
Baylor qualified two runners in the women's 800 meters as Lauren Hagans recorded the third-fastest time of the preliminaries in 2:08.74, while Loren Hodges ran 2:10.26 to earn the eighth spot in Sunday's event finals.
Nichole Jones had the second-fastest time in the women's 1,500 meters at 4:34.00.
