MANSFIELD, Texas - After winning his first two matches in the qualifying draw of this week's USTA Futures Pro Circuit event, Baylor junior Jordan Rux fell in straight sets in his third match Monday to be eliminated at the Walnut Creek Country Club.
Rux needed to win the match against the qualifying draw's No. 1 seed, Todd Paul, to be one of eight qualifiers to reach the 32-man main draw that begins Tuesday. However, Paul will be the one advancing after he took the match 6-3, 6-2. Rux is currently listed as the fourth alternate into the main draw.
The Bears' other representative at the event, senior All-American Denes Lukacs (Eger, Hungary) will begin play in the main draw Wednesday when he faces 17-year-old Sekou Bangoura of the United States. Lukacs is 1-6 this year in Pro Circuit and Challenger events and has career record of 10-20.
