SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team heads south for the UTSA-hosted The Alamo Invitational Oct. 26-27 at the par-72, 6,323-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
The 54-hole tournament will begin with 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 26, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Live scoring for each round will be available online at www.GolfStat.com. In addition to Baylor and host UTSA, the 12-team field includes Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Middle Tennessee, Texas State, SMU, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Ole Miss.
This week's Baylor lineup includes senior Hannah Burke, Lene Hafsten-Morch, Morgan Chambers, Chelsey Cothran and Jaclyn Jansen. Burke leads all Lady Bears with a 72.56 stroke average through nine rounds. The senior has finished in the top 15 in each of the Lady Bears' three tournaments.
"We are looking forward to this week's tournament at The Alamo Invitational," Baylor head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "The Fall Break last weekend restored our energy and it has given us time to work on some of our weaknesses."
Last time out, the Lady Bears finished tied for fourth at Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. Burke posted the best individual performance by a Lady Bear, finishing tied for sixth at 3-over.
"This week, we want to play into our motto: `Be in the last group, the last day, with a chance to win'," Ferdon said.
The Baylor women's golf team concludes its fall schedule Nov. 2-3 at the Challenge at Onion Creek which will be held at Austin's Onion Creek Golf Club.
