Men's Tennis Sends Three To Texas Invitational

Waco, TX - Three Baylor men's tennis players will close out fall season competition when they compete in the Texas Invitational, Oct. 30 - Nov. 1, at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center on the University of Texas campus in Austin.
Senior Attila Bucko (Wellington, Fla.), sophomore Julian Bley (Veitshoechheim, Germany) and sophomore Maros Horny (Zlate Moravce, Slovakia) will all play in a 32-man singles draw while Bucko and Bley will also team together to play in the 32-team doubles draw.
Bucko will be the fourth seed in the tournament and comes into the event with a 6-5 fall record in four tournaments. The lefty is currently ranked 85th in the ITA preseason rankings. Bucko was 1-1 last week at the Wilson/ITA South Central Region Championships in College Station.
"Attila has hit the ball as well as anyone on our team at times this fall," men's tennis coach Matt Knoll said. "He has improved his net game significantly over the past few weeks. This allows him to be more aggressive and finish more points quickly. Things will come together for him with more match play."
Bley has posted a 4-5 record in four tournaments this fall. He is listed as the 113th best player in the preseason rankings. Bley was 1-1 at last week's tournament in College Station.
"Julian has gained some confidence the past few weeks and is playing much better," Knoll said. "He just needs more matches to build on what he's been doing.
Horny is unranked in the ITA preseason listings and is 4-4 in three tournaments this fall. Last time out Horny went 1-2 at the Wilson/ITA South Central Region Championships.
"Maros will work hard to maintain his aggressiveness during the points and to focus a little better at key times," Knoll said.
Baylor's doubles tandem of Bley and Bucko has produced a 3-2 fall record. The duo will look to improve on their 2-1 finish at last week's Wilson/ITA South Central Region Championships, where they reached the quarterfinals.
