SCOUTING THE AGGIES...
• The Aggies are led by 17th-year head coach Laurie Corbelli, who has compiled an impressive 343-158 record, including 13 NCAA postseason appearances.
• Texas A&M has been receiving votes in each poll released this season and currently sit as the first team out of the Top 25 with 88 points, just 25 behind 25th-ranked Washington State.
• The Aggies possess one of the most powerful offenses in the nation, ranking fourth in the nation in kills per set at 14.84, and 16th in the nation in hitting percentage entering the week at .270.
• Setter Kristen Schevikhoven ranks second in the Big 12 and 12th in the NCAA with 11.64 assists per set.
• Three Aggies average more than 3.00 kills per set with Sarah Ammerman leading they way at 4.00, while Jennifer Banse averages 3.28 and Mary Batis averages 3.24.
• The Aggie back row has been equally spectacular, ranking 43rd in the NCAA with 16.2 digs per set. Four players have more than 100 digs with 149 from Tori Mellinger and 139 from Mary Batis.
• Of TAMU's top six leading blockers, none average more than 0.80 per set, totaling 78.0 blocks in '09.
LAST TIME AGAINST TEXAS A&M
After beating Texas A&M on its home floor in the teams' first matchup of 2008, the Aggies came to Baylor and exacted their revenge with a three-set sweep (25-21, 25-22, 25-19. Without the services of an injured Anna Breyfogle, TAMU hit .352 in the match getting double-digit kills from Sarah Ammerman, Jennifer Banse, and Darla Donaldson.
Katie Sanders led the Bears, who hit .230 in the match, with 12 kills, while Allison King and Ashlie Christenson each had 10. Ashley Byrd has seven kills for Baylor, and Taylor Barnes added five and 37 set assists.
On defense, the Aggies out-dug BU 53-44, with Banse totaling a match-high 18 digs. King had nine digs for Baylor, while Barnes, Sanders and Brittany Ridenour each had eight.
Sanders and Ashley Byrd teamed up on the only block of the night for the Bears.
LAST TIME OUT...
Senior Anna Breyfogle and freshman Torri Campbell each hit over .400 to lead the 17th-ranked Bears to a 3-0 sweep (25-19, 25-23, 25-20) over Texas Tech at the United Spirit Arena on Wednesday night.
Breyfogle and Campbell were nearly unstoppable, combining for 20 kills and just three hitting errors in 31 total attempts. The Bears hit .309 (53-19-110) as a team, due in large part to their middle blockers. Katie Sanders led BU with 13 kills with six errors on 29 attempts, while Ashlie Christenson added seven and Elizabeth Graham totaled six. Setter Taylor Barnes had a solid all-around night with 42 assists, four kills, and four digs.
On defense, Baylor held Texas Tech to a .173 hitting percentage (37-19-104). Allison King had nine digs to lead the Baylor back row, Breyfogle, the Big 12's leading blocker, had five blocks (one solo, four assist).
