WACO, Texas - Junior guard
LaceDarius Dunn scored a game-high 24 points to lead Baylor to an 86-71 exhibition win over Central Oklahoma Thursday night at the Ferrell Center.
Baylor used its strength in the lane, outscoring UCO, 48-18, in the paint, and outrebounding the Bronchos, 49-36. Baylor shot 50 percent (31-of-62) in the game, compared to 36.5 percent (23-of-63) for UCO.
"From a coaching standpoint, (this game) was great because it was a very quality team that we played," Baylor head coach Scott Drew said. "I think it was a good test for us and we will get better in some areas."
Dunn was 9-for-16 from the floor, while teammates Ekpe Udoh, Tweety Carter, and Josh Lomers each posted double figures. Udoh notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Carter led the Bears with five assists.
"What was good about Lace (Dunn) is that he was 1-for-5 from 3-point range, but he did a lot of damage inside," Drew said.
UCO's Tyler Phillips and Chris Rhymes each scored 16 to lead the Bronchos, who were 12-of-38 as a team from the three-point line.
Baylor opens its regular season with four straight home games, starting with Norfolk State on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. CST.
