WACO, Texas - Baylor's Spirit Squad and Courtside Players are set to host a send-off open to the public for the Sweet 16-bound volleyball team on the west side of the Ferrell Center at 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
The Bears will board the bus to depart around 3:20 p.m. on their way to catch a flight to Gainesville, Fla., for the Regional Semifinal of the NCAA Volleyball Championship. Baylor will take on ninth-seeded California in a regional that includes top-seeded Penn State and 15th-seeded Florida.
Last weekend, Baylor swept Georgia Tech in the opening round, then stunned eighth-seeded UCLA 3-1 on their home floor at Pauley Pavilion. The Bears will be making the first Sweet 16 appearance in program history, and have compiled a 24-9 record on the season. The win total marks the fourth-highest in the program's 32 seasons.
