Lady Bears Finish Third at BU Invite

WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team fired a 28-over 316 during the third and final round of the Baylor Spring Invitational Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Bears tallied a three-round total of 933 (315-302-316) to finish tied for third overall in the 54-hole tournament.

Illinois State University took home the team title with a 63-over 927 while SMU's Kate Ackerson won the individual title carding a tournament-best 12 birdies on her way to a three-round 223 (74-74-75). New Mexico State finished two shots in front of the Lady Bears and the Missouri State Tigers to take home runner-up honors.

Natalie Hocott paced the Lady Bears during the third and final round Tuesday. Hocott parred 14 of the 18 holes on the 6,349 yard par-72 course at Twin Rivers Golf Club to tally a final round 77. The senior from San Antonio finished tied for 14th place overall.

Despite carding her highest round of the tournament with a third round, 7-over 79, Hannah Burke finished the tournament tied for sixth place overall with a 54-hole total of 229 (77-73-79). Burke's teammate, Morgan Chambers followed suite with a 79 of her own during Tuesday's final 18 holes of play. Chambers finished the Baylor Invite with a 24-over 240 over three rounds.

Lene Hafsten-Morch concluded play with a 10-over 82, while freshman Chelsey Cothran posted a final round 81 to finish tied for 23rd overall at 235 (80-74-81).

Jaclyn Jansen used an eagle on the par-5 8th to card a 4-over 76 as an individual medalist. Jansen's eagle was one of only two in the tournament. Jordan Rhodes also competed as an individual for Baylor finishing tied for 27th respectively with a 236 (76-78-82).

The Lady Bears will be back on the links March 27-28 at the University of Cincinnati Spring Invitational in Crystal River, Fla.
