Jerrells Named to NABC All-District Second Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Baylor senior guard Curtis Jerrells has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 8 second team. It marks the second-straight year that Jerrells has been named to an All-District team by the NABC.
Jerrells, currently the sixth-leading scorer in school history with 1,658 points, leads the Bears in scoring (16.3) and assists (5.0). He is on pace to become the first player in school history to lead Baylor is scoring and assists all four seasons.
A Preseason All-Big 12 selection, Jerrells is the school record holder for career games started (109) and career minutes played (3,591). He earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2008 as a junior and was an honorable mention all-conference pick as a sophomore in 2007.
Last season, the Austin native became the first Baylor player to be honor with all-district distinction since Lawrence Roberts in 2003 when we was named to the All-District 9 first team. Jerrells is the first Baylor player since Roberts to earn two-time NABC All-District honors.
Members on the All-District 8 first team were Sherron Collins (Kansas), Blake Griffin (Oklahoma), Craig Brackins (Iowa State), DeMarre Carroll (Missouri) and Cole Aldrich (Kansas). Joining Jerrells on the second team were A.J. Abrams (Texas), Damion James (Texas), James Anderson (Oklahoma State) and Willie Warren (Oklahoma).
The NABC Division I All-District teams recognize the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the 240 student-athletes, from 24 districts which were realigned this season, are now eligible for the State Farm Coaches' Division I All-America teams to be announced on Saturday, April 4, at Hoop City in the COBO Center as part of the 2009 NABC Convention in Detroit.
