SECAUCUS, N.J. - Baylor guard/forward Jessica Morrow was selected as the 27th overall pick in the 2009 WNBA draft on Thursday afternoon in Secaucus, N.J. When the Atlanta Dream drafted the 6-0 standout, she became the program's seventh WNBA draftee. Morrow's selection marked the fifth straight season a Baylor player was taken in the WNBA Draft.
Morrow averaged 11.2 points a game in her final season at Baylor and was the team's top 3-point shooter with 48 makes on the year. Morrow finished her Baylor career with 1,312 career points which ranks No. 17 all-time. In Lady Bears basketball history, she ranks No. 2 all-time in games started with 112, No. 3 in games played (130), No. 4 in 3-pointers made (140) and No. 9 in blocks with 94.
Morrow, a two-time All-Big 12 honorable mention selection, was selected the Most Outstanding Player of the 2009 Big 12 Championships and was a member of the 2007 Big 12 Championship All-Tournament team.
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to play basketball at the next level. I grew up watching the Houston Comets and always aspired to play in the WNBA. This is a dream come true for me, " said Morrow.
The Dream drafted two other players, Louisville's Angel McCoughtry, the draft's first pick, and Kansas State's Shalee Lehning.
