July 2, 2009

BOSTON - Baylor men's basketball 1,000-point scorer Kevin Rogers is one of 13 players included on the 2009 Boston Celtics Orlando Summer League roster, the organization announced.

Rogers, who finished his career seventh all-time at Baylor in scoring with 1,371 points, joins second-round draft pick Lester Hudson (UT Martin) and rookie free agents Chris Lofton (Tennessee), Bryce Taylor (Oregon) and Bryan Mullins (Southern Illinois) on the Orlando squad. The remainder of the roster is filled with players that have NBA experience, including Mike Sweetney, Nick Fazekas, Coby Karl, Robert Swift and Darius Washington. Celtics head coach "Doc" Rivers will handle the head coaching duties for the summer league team.

The Dallas, Texas, native, became the fifth player in school history to accumulative 1,000 points and 800 rebounds in a career, while tying the single-season school record for games started (39) and games played (39). Rogers was a 2009 All-Big 12 honorable mention selection by the league's coaches and was named to the Big 12 All-Tournament team in March.

The Celtics will play five games in the Orlando Summer League at the RDV SportsPlex in Maitland, Fla., beginning with their opening contest versus the Utah Jazz Monday, July 6 at 6 p.m. CDT. The Celtics' schedule continues against the Orlando Magic July 7 at 12 p.m. CDT, the Oklahoma City Thunder July 8 at 4 p.m. CDT and the Indiana Pacers July 9 at 6 p.m. CDT. The schedule concludes with a game versus the combined New Jersey Nets and Philadelphia 76ers team July 10 at 12 p.m. EDT.
