Volleyball Opens Fall Practice

WACO, Texas - The Baylor volleyball team opened its fall practice schedule on Tuesday, welcoming four newcomers to a squad that finished 18-13 (9-11 Big 12) last season. Three freshman and one transfer join the Bears this season.

Last season, head coach Jim Barnes' crew tied for the most overall wins (18) and wins in the Big 12 (9) since 1999, and will look to improve on their sixth-place finish in the conference standings. In 2008, the Bears set records for most wins to start a season with eight, and most wins to start the conference schedule with three.

Outside hitters Zoe Adom and Kiley Sherman, along with middle blocker Torri Campbell, make up the 14th-ranked recruiting class starting practice for the Bears. Adom, Sherman and Campbell enter as freshmen, while Elizabeth Graham transferred from Texas and will begin her junior campaign.

Elizabeth Graham - 2008 (Sophomore) University of Texas: Saw action in eight matches and 10 sets, recording seven kills on .462 hitting...Added four total blocks, including one solo, and one dig. 2007 (Freshman), University of Texas: Appeared in four matches and six games before sustaining an ankle injury in practice and missing the final 13 matches of the regular season...Saw her first action for the Longhorns in a 3-1 loss to Penn State (8/25)...Subbed in for two games and recorded her first career kill, dig and block in a sweep of Houston (8/31)...Recorded three kills on four attacks and posted one block assist in a 3-0 win over Baylor (10/10)...Teamed with Alexandra Lewis at the 2008 Collegiate Beach National Championships in San Diego, Calif., winning their pool and earning a runner-up finish in the D-Flight.
