WACO, Texas - The Baylor volleyball team will be hosting its annual Green & Gold scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 22, at noon. The scrimmage will be followed by a "Meet the Bears" luncheon in the Stone Room at the Ferrell Center.
Head coach Jim Barnes and the team captains will address the crowd, as well as answer questions about the upcoming season, at the luncheon. Admission to the scrimmage is free of charge, while cost to attend the luncheon is $5.
The event will provide Bear fans their first look at the 2009 volleyball team, which returns all seven starters and 11 letterwinners. The Bears, who finished 18-13 (9-11 Big 12) in 2008, will welcome three freshman and one transfer to the squad. Prepvolleyball.com ranked Baylor's recruiting class 14th in the nation, featuring the country's 30th ranked recruit in 2009.
Seniors Taylor Barnes and Anna Breyfogle enter the season fresh off of first-team all-Big 12 performances in 2008. They will be joined on the front line by fellow senior Katie Sanders who led the Bears last season in kills with 392 and kills per set with 3.50.
For the fourth-straight season, Baylor volleyball will be broadcast live on BaylorBears.com's All-Access.
