WACO, Texas - The Baylor volleyball team played their annual intrasquad scrimmage in the Ferrell Center on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Ashlie Christenson led all attackers with 19 kills for the Green team, while teammate Allison King tallied the game's most digs with 28. Preseason All-Big 12 selection Anna Breyfogle added 10 kills and six blocks for the Green squad.
In splitting time on each team, setters Taylor Barnes and Brittany Ridenour had 40 and 41 assists, respectively. Each setter played two sets with each team.
For the White squad, senior Katie Sanders and junior transfer Elizabeth Graham had 15 and 12 kills, while four players on the White had double-digit digs. Sophomore libero Jordan Rice led the way with 19 digs. Sanders tallied 14, Briana Tolbert had 11, and Barnes collected 10 digs for the White and seven for the Green.
The Green team turned up the play at the net with Ashley Byrd's seven blocks and Breyfogle's six, while Ashlie Christenson and Qian Zhang each had four.
The Bears get their season underway on Friday, Aug. 28 at 11:30 against Southeastern Louisiana in the first game of the Flo Hyman Invitational hosted by the University of Houston. Baylor will play a second game that day against Houston at 7:30 p.m. before finishing up Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. match against the University of New Orleans.
