Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate Round One Results in PDF Format

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - The Baylor women's golf team is in second place, while three Lady Bears are among the leaders, Monday after one round of the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate at Highlands Ranch Golf Club.

Baylor battled unfavorable conditions that included rain, snow and wind gusts of up to 20 miles per hour to shoot 11-over 299 during Monday's first round. The Lady Bears trail host and leader Denver (10-over 298) by one stroke. UC Davis is in third place at 12-over 300, followed by North Texas (20-over 308) in fourth and Iowa State (22-over 310) in fifth.

Three Lady Bears are in the top 10 and five are in the top 25 through the first round. Baylor senior Hannah Burke is second overall at even-par 72, followed by teammate Lene Hafsten-Morch, who is tied for third at 1-over 73. Burke, who birdied holes No. 6 and No. 7 in succession to close her round, trails the leader, UC Davis' Alice Kim (1-under 71) by one shot.

"The Lady Bears played great today," Baylor head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "Cold and rain are always a tough combination, but we hit the ball really well despite the conditions.

"We came out here to pair up with Denver to see how we compare and UC Davis is a good team as well," Ferdon said. "Tomorrow will be fun to see how we compete."

Sophomore Jaclyn Jansen, who turned in her performance during last week's Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic where she finished eighth overall, is tied for ninth at 4-over 76.

Chelsey Cothran is tied for 17th overall at 6-over 78, while freshman Melanie White leads all individual golfers in 24th place at 7-over 79. Morgan Chambers is tied for 46th after shooting 10-over 82.

The second round of the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate will tee off Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. CT with the first of six Lady Bears teeing off at 11:10 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStat.com.
