Men's Tennis Set To Host Baylor Intercollegiate

WACO, Texas - Baylor men's tennis will play in its second fall event when it hosts the ninth annual Baylor HEB Intercollegiate Invitational, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 25-27 at the Baylor Tennis Center.
This year's tournament consists of 23 schools with over 110 student-athletes participating. The field includes 14 players currently ranked among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national pre-season rankings including six of the top 50. In addition to an impressive singles draw, three of the competing doubles teams are ranked in the ITA's national pre-season poll.
The tournament will consist of two 64-player singles draws, flight A and B, as well as 32-team doubles draws in both flights A and B. There will be consolation for flight A and B singles.
Oklahoma State's Oleksandr Nedovyesov is the tournament's highest ranked player in the ITA rankings at No. 1 followed by Wisconsin's Moritz Baumann at No. 19 and Rice's Bruno Rosa at No. 22. Top-ranked doubles tandems include No. 6 Moritz Baumann and Marek Michalicka (Wisconsin), No. 25 Maros Horny and Jordan Rux (Baylor) and No. 39 Andrei Daescu and Ionut Beleleu (Oklahoma).
Teams participating include: Air Force, Arkansas, Abilene Christian, Baylor, Denver, New Mexico State, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Rice, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-CC, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UL-Lafayette, UNLV, Texas, UT-Arlington, UT-San Antonio, Wichita State and Wisconsin.
"This is a wonderful kick-off to the season," men's tennis coach Matt Knoll said. "To be able to get great competition here at our place is a great way for our guys to develop. They get a great taste of what it is all about, playing great teams and great coaches. We are lucky to have this event here. I think it is going to showcase some of the best players in the country and it is a wonderful opportunity for our guys."
Five Baylor players will participate in the tournament including senior Attila Bucko (No. 85), junior Jordan Rux (No. 27) and sophomores Julian Bley (No. 113), Chris Gordon and Maros Horny.
Horny and Rux, who are ranked as the 25th best doubles duo in the pre-season rankings, will partner together to play along with teammates Bucko and Bley in the Doubles A Draw.
