Track Opens at Reveille Invitational

WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's and women's track and field teams open their 2010-11 campaign with a small contingent traveling to the Reveille Invitational on Saturday at the Texas A&M Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas.
"This will be a good meet to see where some people are with their training," head coach Todd Harbour said. "We really wish we could send a bigger group, but with it being the middle of finals week, it makes it tough."
The two-hour meet, which begins at 12:30 p.m., will feature host Texas A&M, Houston and TCU. With 11 events being contested the sprinters will be featured in the 60 meters, 60 hurdles and 4 x 400 relay. Distance runners will cover events in the 800 meters, 5,000 meters and distance medley relay. Field events will include the high jump, pole vault, long jump, shot put and weight throw.
Baylor returns 10 All-Americans to for the 2011 season, including all-time women's leader Tiffany Townsend, who has earned 13 All-America certificates in her illustrious career. On the track, the women also return two more All-Americans in junior Diamond Richardson and senior Brittany Bruce. Two All-Americans also return in the field events, including sophomore Skylar White and junior Jessica Ubanyionwu.
On the men's side, four All-Americans return, including sprinter Whitney Prevost, quartermilers Marcus Boyd and Zwede Hewitt, and half-miler James Gilreath.
After the weekend, Baylor will be off until after the holiday season, returning for the Texas A&M Invitational on Jan. 15 in College Station, Texas.
