WACO, Texas - Tickets are still available for the Baylor-Tennessee game, a matchup of top-10 women's basketball programs. The second-ranked Lady Bears host the eighth-ranked Lady Vols in the Ferrell Center on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m., in a game that will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
Thanks to Texas Farm Bureau Insurance and Baylor Athletics, 10,000 Kim Mulkey Bobble Heads will be given away to fans attending the Baylor-Tennessee contest. This will be the only opportunity for fans to obtain this commemorative item, which is a salute to the Lady Bears' Hall of Fame head coach.
The contest marks the Lady Vols' and head coach Pat Summitt's first trip to the Ferrell Center. In fact, five Women's Basketball Hall of Fame coaches will be along the sidelines on Tuesday. Mulkey and her assistant Leon Barmore were inducted in 2000 and 2003 respectively, while Summitt (1999) and assistants Holly Warlick (2001) and Daedra Charles-Furlow (2007) are members as well.
The two teams met twice last season. The Lady Vols posted a 74-65 victory in both team's season opener in Knoxville, Tenn., then the Lady Bears avenged that loss with a 77-62 win in Memphis, Tenn., in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16.
In addition, under coach Mulkey, the Lady Bears are 62-2 during the month of December and have never lost a December game in the Ferrell Center, an impressive 39-0 mark.
Tickets may be purchased online at BaylorBears.com, by phone at 254-710-1000 or in person at the Ferrell Center Box Office weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
