FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Four Baylor tracksters represented the Bears, including two in the 200 meters and two in the 400 meters, at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
Whitney Prevost and defending national champion Trey Harts competed in the 200 meters, while Chris Gowell and James Gilreath competed in the 800 meters, but all four missed qualifying for Saturday's finals.
In the 800 meters, Gowell did not finish due to an injury, and Gilreath, who led through the first of four laps, finished fifth in his heat. Gilreath's time of 1:52.18 put him 12th overall, with the top eight advancing to the finals.
In the 200 meters, Prevost posted a time of 21.01 to place third in his heat and 11th overall, while Harts clocked a time of 21.12 to also place third in his heat and 14th overall.
"It was just a tough day for us, but we are excited about Jessica (Ubanyionwu) and our 4x4," head coach Todd Harbour said. "We hope to see some great things from them."
The Bears will be represented by women's triple jumper Jessica Ubanyionwu and the men's 4x400-meter relay team on Saturday at the Tyson Track Center. The triple jump is slated for 6:30 p.m., while the relay will conclude the meet at 8:25 p.m.
