Follow Live Scoring from the 2010 Baylor Spring Invitational
WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team hosts the 2010 Baylor Spring Invitational, a 16-team, 54-hole stroke play event, Monday and Tuesday at Twin Rivers Golf Club. For the second consecutive year, the par-72, 6,394-yard Twin Rivers Golf Club will as the host course.
Illinois State won the Baylor Spring Invitational in 2009 by four strokes, while SMU's Kate Ackerson took home individual medalist honors. The Lady Bears finished third overall (315-301-316=933), with Hannah Burke tying for sixth place at 13-over (77-73-79=229).
The Baylor Spring Invitational will tee off with 36 holes on Monday beginning with an 8:30 a.m. CDT shotgun start with continuous play through the second round. The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. CDT. Live scoring, which will be updated every three holes, will be available on www.GolfStatResults.com and www.BaylorBears.com.
In addition to No. 53 Baylor, the 16-team field includes Boise State, No. 95 Kansas State, McLennan Community College, No. 98 North Texas, No. 80 Oklahoma, No. 1 (NAIA) Oklahoma City, No. 58 Oral Roberts, No. 33 Oregon, SMU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, No. 90 Texas State, No. 47 Texas Tech, No. 69 UALR, No. 85 UTSA and Wichita State.
For the second consecutive tournament, senior Hannah Burke leads the Lady Bears lineup that includes Chelsey Cothran, Lene Hafsten-Morch, Jaclyn Jansen and Karianne Hillaas. Melanie White, Dina O'Brien and Jordan Rhodes will also compete as individuals. Burke leads the Lady Bears in percent of rounds counted (98.0), stroke average (73.48), score vs. par (1.64), rounds of par or better (10), top-10 finishes (four) and top-15 finishes (six).
Burke, Cothran, Hafsten-Morch and Jansen have played in all nine of Baylor's tournaments this season, while O'Brien and Rhodes will be making their season debuts at Twin Rivers.
The Baylor Spring Invitational will serve as the Lady Bears' final tune-up before the 2010 Big 12 Women's Golf Championship April 23-25 in Norman, Okla.
