Head Coach Steve Smith

On the outing from Jon Ringenberg
"When I left last night, that was not who I thought we would put out there. He hadn't thrown off of a mound in 10 days or so. He has been throwing on some flat ground and has been feeling better. What was so impressive about what he did was really the command that he had. He only threw fastball and changeup and to both sides of the plate. He just had good command. (Kansas) didn't strike out. They put the ball in play and our guys made double plays, which was huge."

On Joey Hainsfurther pitching 2.2 innings:
"(I got) more than I thought I could. I really thought it was unfair to ask him to go three innings. I was trying to get him to go an inning or so. At that point in the game I wasn't sure if we would have a lead then. He came in and did a good job with it."

On the focus of the game shifting from developmental to a must-win mentality:
"Right after Logan Vick hit the ball into the left-center field gap (in the first). As a coach you are pretty much done when you make your lineup out. The development philosophy is represented in the lineup itself."

Junior SS Landis Ware

On being able to rest key players:
"It is real nice. We know if we give guys days off, like Joey (Hainsfurther) or Brooks (Pinckard), we aren't losing anything. We believe that all of the guys on the bench can do the job just as they did today. They have done that all year. It is good that they got a day off so that they will be fresh tomorrow, but it was nice to see these guys get the opportunity (to play)."

On his two-run homer:
"I wouldn't say it is lucky, but I am not trying to (hit homeruns). I am going to hit them once in a while when a pitcher makes a certain mistake. I am not changing my approach at all. I am just trying to see the ball and put a good swing on it." On the Baylor defense forcing four twin killings:
"It really is (huge). If the leadoff guy gets on, it puts a little strain on the pitcher. Being one pitch away from two outs does a lot and allows pitchers to go out for more innings and allows our bullpen to stay strong."

Junior RHP Jon Ringenberg

On his outing:
"I felt really good today. I was actually hitting my spots a lot better than I thought I would for being away from the mound for a while. I really felt like I was hitting my spots well with my changeup. I was keeping the ball down and was able to get a lot of ground balls today, which is what I go for with my fastball and changeup."

Junior RF Chris Slater

On earning the start in right field:
"I am sure every single guy on the roster would like to be in the roster every day. Sometimes you just have to accept your role, keep working and stay positive. That is what I try to do throughout the season. You definitely want to hustle and make the most of every opportunity that you get."
