ORLANDO, Fla. - Senior Ashlie Christenson chalked up a double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs to help lead Baylor over Florida Atlantic (25-12, 25-13, 25-27, 25-16) for the Courtyard by Marriott/UCF Classic title on Saturday in Orlando, Fla.

Baylor cruised through the first two sets, but a late run by FAU in the third set prolonged the BU win for a set. The Bears came out in the fourth and controlled play, putting on a 5-0 run early in the set to grab control.

Sophomore Torri Campbell was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for her efforts, while Christenson and libero Caitlyn Trice were named to the all-tournament team. Campbell and Christenson each tallied 40 kills on the weekend, while Trice had 50 digs.

Against FAU, Baylor hit .351 with 61 kills and 15 errors in 131 total attempts, marking the third consecutive match where the Bears hit over .350. BU had more than twice as many kills as FAU (61-29), led by Christenson's 17 and 12 each by Campbell and Ashley Byrd.

The Baylor defense racked up 63 digs, 14 more than FAU, along with 7.0 team blocks. Trice had 20 digs, along with 13 from Allison King and 11 from Christenson. Big 12 blocking leader Elizabeth Graham had six blocks on the day, while Christenson and Byrd each had two.

Baylor scored three in a row early in the first set with two kills by Christenson around a Graham kill for a 5-2 lead. The Owls held within three at 11-8, but BU scored six of the next seven with three kills by Briana Tolbert. Baylor then turned a 19-12 lead into a 25-12 win with a 6-0 run to end the set. Two kills by Christenson highlighted the set-ending span.

The second set was a mirror image of the first with Baylor getting out to a 5-2 lead with two kills by Byrd and one by Campbell. FAU closed the score to 12-10, but BU put on a 13-3 run over the next 16 points to end to take a 2-0 set-lead. In the stretch, King and Byrd each had two kills, while the BU back row frustrated Owl hitters with digs.

In the third set, Baylor built a 19-12 lead before the advantage started to disappear. Early on, BU got three kills from Christenson and two each from Campbell and Byrd, but then the errors started to mount. With a new-look lineup in the game for Baylor, FAU took advantage with a 10-3 run to tie the match at 22-22. Baylor had set-point on two occasions, but a kill and back-to-back service aces for FAU's Cintia Nightingale kept the Owl's hopes alive with a 27-25 set-win.

The Bears came out determined in the fourth, starting with a 10-5 lead, capped by a Christenson kill. Campbell made the lead 18-10 with a kill, then Byrd set up match point at 24-15 with a spike. Christenson finished it off with a kill to give Baylor the set 25-16.

Baylor (7-4) will be back on the court in the fourth match of a four-game roadstand in Austin, Texas, taking on the University of Texas on Saturday at 4 p.m. The match with be Baylor's first conference opponent of the season.
