WACO, Texas - Baylor head volleyball coach Jim Barnes announced the signing of San Jacinto College transfer Alyssa Dibbern to a financial aid agreement on Wednesday.

The 6-2 Dibbern, a Bay City, Texas, native joins the Bears for the spring season after earning NJCAA First-Team All-America honors in both of her seasons at SJC. A right-side hitter, Dibbern helped the Ravens reach the NJCAA national championship match, before falling in five sets to Western Nebraska Community College. For her efforts in the NJCAA tournament, Dibbern earned all-tournament team honors as well.

"Alyssa is a very physical player and comes to Baylor with some outstanding accolades from junior college," Barnes said. "We are fortunate to have her with our program this spring to prepare for the 2011 season. Alyssa is definitely an impact player and has a very big block that will fit in well within our 6-2 system. Offensively, she is left-handed and has shown the ability to score in and out of system. On top of all that, Alyssa is a very good student and will be a great Baylor student-athlete."

During her two-year career at San Jacinto, Dibbern earned all-conference and all-region honors. She was named the Region XIV Freshman and Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 and the Region XIV Most Valuable Player in 2010.

As a sophomore, Dibbern led San Jacinto in kills per set with 3.51, ranking 18th nationally, while also leading the squad in blocks per set at 1.01. In 2009, Dibbern led the team in service aces with 54 and blocks per set at 0.89, while ranking second in kills per set at 2.83.

Dibbern prepped at Bay City High School, where she was the District 23-4A Most Valuable Player and Offensive MVP. During her senior season, she recorded 411 kills and 216 digs, along with 129 blocks.
