IRVING, Texas - Baylor senior Jaclyn Jansen was named Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month for October, the conference office announced Wednesday. Jansen is the second consecutive Baylor golfer to earn Golfer of the Month honors. Freshman Hayley Davis was named Big 12 Golfer of the Month for September.

Baylor boasts multiple Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month in the same season for the first time in program history. Prior to this season, only five Lady Bears had ever won Golfer of the Month honors in the Big 12 Conference's first 15 seasons of completion.

In Baylor's lone October tournament, Jansen scored a share of the individual title at the Price's "Give 'Em Five" Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. It was Jansen's second career victory, shooting a career-low 5-under 211. Her 211 is the sixth-lowest 54-hole score in program history and the lowest by a Lady Bear this season.

Jansen, who ranks third on the team with a 74.25 scoring average, is the seventh Big 12 Golfer of the Month selection in program history, joining Melanie Hagewood (March 2003), Josefin Svenningsson (October 2003), Sian Reddrick (November 2005), Allison Martin (March 2007), Hannah Burke (March 2009) and Davis (September 2011).

Baylor, which finished second Tuesday at the Alamo Invitational, placed either first or second in each of its final three fall tournaments. The Lady Bears open their spring schedule Feb. 12-14, 2012, at the UCF Challenge in Sorrento, Fla.
