WACO, Texas - Single-game 2011-12 Baylor men's and women's basketball now on sale through the school's athletic ticket office.
Baylor fans have purchased a record number of season tickets for both programs as of today, and those numbers are expected to grow in the coming days. More than 6,300 tickets have been purchased for the nation's preseason No. 1-ranked Lady Bears with some 5,100 season passes sold for a Baylor men's program that has garnered pre-season top 20 recognition while being tabbed as a Big 12 title favorite by many pre-season magazines.
For the first time ever, the Big 12 will play a double round-robin schedule in 2011-12 with every men's and women's team making a stop in Waco this winter with the change from a 16-game league slate to an 18-game schedule. The BU men will open Big 12 play with a 6 p.m. nationally televised game on ESPNU Jan. 2 vs. Texas A&M, while the Baylor women will host Missouri two nights later at 7 p.m. in their league lid-lifter.
Fans may purchase season or single-game basketball tickets for the Lady Bears and Bears on-line at BaylorBears.com/tickets, in person at the Ferrell Center Athletic Ticket Office weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. or by phone at 254.710.1000.
Baylor opens its 2011-12 basketball season with a men's and women's double-header on Friday, Nov. 11, with the top-ranked Lady Bears hosting Howard in the opening round of the 2011 Preseason WNIT at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Bears' game against Texas Southern at 9 p.m. A ticket to either game will allow fans to watch both ends of Friday's double-dip, although fans are asked to sit in their ticketed seats for the game in which they purchased a ticket for and find an open seat for the other game throughout the arena.
