Track Crew Competes at Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. - A small group of Baylor sprinters made the short drive to Norman, Okla., on Saturday to compete in the John Jacobs Invitational, hosted by the University of Oklahoma.Sophomore Joe Barb turned in the most impressive time of the day for a men's group that included sprinters Marcus Thompson and Dennis Scruggs. For the women, junior Brittany Carr had the top finishes on the women's side, while Alyssa Nichols, Justine Charbonnet, Idia Omogiate and Kehri Jones each had solid races as well.
Barb placed seventh overall in the 400 meters, but his time of 47.64 was a season-best by more than a half-second. Marcus Thompson competed in both the 100 and 200 meters, finishing fourth in the 100 at 10.92.
Junior Dennis Scruggs took on the field in both the 200 and 400 meters, running season-bests in each race. He was 11th in the 200 in 21.71 and 14th in the 400 with a time of 48.32.
On the women's side, Carr finished in the top 10 in both the 100 and 200 meters. She was fourth in the 100 with a time of 11.88, while finishing 10th in the 200 with a time of 24.24. Idia Omogiate and Kehri Jones were each in the top 10 in the 100 meters, clocking times of 12.19 and 12.30.
The entire Baylor track and field team will be back in action right at home next weekend in the Michael Johnson/Dr Pepper Invitational on April 23 at the Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex.
