AUSTIN, Texas - In a light day of action at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Baylor's women's 4x800-meter relay team had the top finish on Thursday evening at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Running in a pack of four teams, Baylor challenged for the top spot, ultimately falling to fourth place with a time of 8:47.43. Sophomore Brittany OgunMokun led off the relay, putting the Bears in contention. Lizzy Whitney kept Baylor within striking distance on the second leg, before handing to Mariah Kelly on the third leg. Kelly and senior Leigh Ann Ganzar finished off the relay with solid legs, nearly catching the third place team. The group combined for the sixth-fastest time ever at Baylor in the event.
Also on the track, sophomore Christina Holland turned in her best time of the season in the 400-meter hurdles, qualifying for Saturday's finals. Holland's time of 58.46 was nearly two seconds better than her season-best and qualified her seventh overall.
Four Baylor freshmen also finished competition in the two-day multi-events. In the men's decathlon, Henry Vildosola scored 6,152 points to place 18th, just 30 points and one place ahead of teammate Hunter Brook.
In the women's heptathlon, Jessica Shadley had the top finish, scoring 4,507 points to place 20th overall. Lauren Rover scored 4,205 points in her first career heptathlon to place 24th.
