FB's Epperson Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

DALLAS - Baylor's Derek Epperson was honored Tuesday by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) as a member of the 2011 NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
A total of 671 players from 241 schools qualified for membership in the society's fifth year, showing a steady increase in membership each year since the inaugural class in 2007.
Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include:
• Achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and
• Meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements and graduation.
He garnered second-team All-Big 12 honors from The Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram and San Antonio Express-News and honorable mention from the AP and the league's coaches. He was a five-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member and graduated in August 2010 with a degree in management information systems.
Epperson becomes the 13th Baylor player to earn the NFF honor, joining Shawn Bell (2007), Daniel Sepulveda (2007), Desmond Jenkins (2008), Michael Machen (2008), Ralph Rodriguez (2008), Ty Findley (2009), John David Weed (2009), Ben Hixson (2009), Ryan Roberts (2009), Joe Pawelek (2010) and Jason Lamb (2010).
