VB's Campbell Named Preseason All-Big 12

WACO, Texas- Baylor volleyball junior Torri Campbell was named to the 17-member Preseason All-Big 12 team announced Tuesday afternoon by conference officials.
A middle blocker, Campbell was named to the preseason team for the second consecutive season and leads a strong group of nine returning letterwinners on the Baylor squad. Last season, Campbell ranked second on the team in hitting percentage (.305), kills (321) and blocks (102) behind graduated senior Elizabeth Graham.
In addition, the Amarillo, Texas, native earned UCF/Radisson Classic Most Valuable Player honors in leading Baylor to the early season tournament title in Orlando. She also recorded more than 10 kills on 17 occasions and more than five blocks in six matches.
As a team, Baylor will look to improve on its 16-15 overall record and 9-11 Big 12 mark. Last season's Baylor squad ranked first in the Big 12 and third in the NCAA in digs-per-set, while also recording more than 10.0 team blocks in 10 matches. The Bears managed better season totals than their opponents in hitting percentage, kills, assists, digs and total blocks.
Baylor will open the season traveling to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Mortar Board Premier hosted by Purdue University on Aug. 26-27. BU will face the Boilermakers on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m., then play College of Charleston at 11 a.m. and VCU at 4 p.m. on Aug. 27.
