BEAUMONT, Texas- Baylor's volleyball team saw its seven-match win streak halted in a 3-1 loss to Mississippi State, but came back to sweep tournament-host Lamar on Saturday at the MCM Elegante' Invitational in Beaumont, Texas.

Baylor hadn't seen defeat since a season-opening loss to No. 13 Purdue, but fell to Mississippi State (5-4) before coming back to win the nightcap over Lamar (1-10) and earn a second-place finish in the tournament. Freshman Adri Nora and junior Torri Campbell each earned all-tournament team honors for their efforts.

"We were disappointed in that loss this morning to Mississippi State, but it was good to rebound tonight and play well," head coach Jim Barnes said. "With Adri (Nora), it was good to see a freshman produce like that and play consistent through all three matches was promising. She could be a special player for us.(Alyssa) Dibbern had a great match for us tonight, she had an all-tournament-type weekend as well."

Baylor will be back in action with four matches in the coming week. The Bears will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to take on TCU on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., before heading to Las Vegas for the UNLV Classic on Friday and Saturday.

MATCH 1
In its first match of the day, Baylor struggled to contain the potent Mississippi State offense, which hit .308 with 65 kills in the four-set match. Comparatively, BU hit .284 with 56 kills in the 3-1 loss (21-25, 25-21, 19-25, 20-25).

Briana Tolbert led the way for Baylor with 14 kills, while Nora had a career-high 13 in the match. Improving from match-to-match, Nora hit .273 from her outside hitter position. Campbell and Alyssa Dibbern each had nine kills, while Brittany Ridenour had 34 assists and Kate Harris entered in the fourth for 15 assists.

Defensively, Allison King was the only player with double-figure digs at 19, while Dibbern and Campbell each added five blocks.

MSU outside hitter Caitlin Rance led the Bulldog offense with 23 kills, one of four players with at least 10.

In the first, Baylor built its biggest lead of the set with a 4-0 run to make it 15-11, starting with a kill by Nora. Dibbern added a block and a kill during the run, but the Bulldogs answered with a 5-0 run that included three kills from Faith Steinwedell. Baylor took its last lead of the set on a kill by Tolbert at 19-18, while the Bulldogs regained the momentum and went on to win the set 25-21.

Baylor turned it around in the second set, taking advantage of a mid-set 9-4 run to build an 18-13 lead. Nora came alive on offense with five kills in the set. A block assist by Dibbern and Campbell, followed by a Dibbern kill gave BU a commanding 22-16 lead. Nora then followed up a second-touch kill from Ridenour with the finishing swing for a 25-21 win.

In the third, the Bulldogs grabbed the momentum from the opening tip and led the entire way. Baylor closed it to one at 11-12 with a 4-2 run that included three MSU errors and a kill by Dibbern. MSU extended it to 17-14, but Dibbern followed a solo block with a kill to keep BU within one. The Bulldogs, however, woke up their offense and scored eight of the next 11 points to close out the set.

The fourth set was more Mississippi State offensive efficiency, recording 21 kills and a .436 hitting percentage as a team. BU kept the set close early, tying it 9-9 with back-to-back kills by Campbell and Dibbern. From there, the Bulldogs used an efficient attack by Rance and Chanelle Baker on the left side to win 25-20.

MATCH 2
Baylor overcame a slow start to have its best offensive match of the tournament with a .368 hitting percentage that included a zero-error second set. That marked the first time in exactly one year that BU has gone a set without an error. The Bears then finished off the sweep of Lamar (25-18, 25-12, 25-23).

As a team, Baylor combined for 45 kills and just six errors in 106 total attempts. Campbell led the way with 13 kill and zero errors in 22 attempts to hit .591 and move her team-leading season percentage to .398. Dibbern added nine kills and Tolbert had eight, while Ridenour notched 36 assists.

Defensively, Dibbern was a force at the net for the Bears, recording three solo blocks and a two assisted for a total of five in the match. In the back row, King continued her string of solid matches with 22 of the team's 52 digs.

Lamar came out strong in the first set, building a 5-2 lead before Baylor could get going. After Lamar took a 12-11 lead, Baylor turned up the heat offensively, building an 18-14 lead with a 6-2 run. Adom and Dibbern each collected two kills during the span. Lamar closed to within 19-17, but Dibbern spearheaded a 3-0 finishing run with a block and a kill to give BU the 25-18 win.

In the second, the Bears came out on fire and played a near perfect set, racking up 17 kills with zero errors in 34 total attempts. Baylor sprinted out to a 10-3 lead on the strength of three kills by Campbell. The Bears didn't let up the entire set, adding a 9-3 run to build a lead of 19-9 with two kills each by Tolbert and Zoe Adom. Dibbern added a solo block and was in two block assists to finish off the set 25-12.

The Cardinals took the first lead in the third set at 6-4, but the Bears came back with a 3-0 run with back-to-back kills from Tolbert. After Lamar took the lead back, BU tightened down again with a 6-2 run when Campbell got two kills and a block for a 13-10 lead. The Cardinals kept fighting back into the set, tying it at 21-21, but Campbell again came through for Baylor with a block assist and two kills to end it 25-23.
