The Aggies, receiving votes in the latest poll, enter the week following a four-set loss at Missouri with each set ending with a two-point difference. Texas A&M started the year 9-0, but have lost three of the last five.
The Aggies, who ranked first in the Big 12 with a .271 hitting percentage, are led by OH Kelsey Black's 3.62 kills per set. MB Lindsey Miller and MB €ˆAlicia Kastmo are hitting .329 and .313 on the season. Defensively, L Megan Pendergast averages 4.15 digs per set and Stephanie Minnerly averages 0.91 blocks per set.
STORYLINES
Baylor dropped to 0-2 in the Big 12 and 11-5 overall after falling 3-0 at Kansas State on Saturday. Baylor is 3-1 this season in matches following a loss.
The Bears have won each of the last three meetings with Texas A&M, all in five sets. BU swept the Aggies last season. Baylor has also won three in a row in College Station.
Head coach Jim Barnes is just one win away from tying former coach Brian Hosfeld's school record of 129 wins. Barnes holds BU mark for overall and conference win percentage.
As a team, Baylor is ranked 22nd in the NCAA €ˆin digs per set with an average of 17.30. SR €ˆL €ˆAllison King leads the Bears with 5.14, ranking her 28th in the nation and second in Big 12.
Baylor has two offensive weapons ranked in the top 10 in the league in hitting percentage. JR €ˆMB Torri Campbell is fifth at .356, while SR €ˆMB €ˆBriana Tolbert ranks seventh at .326.
In the first two league matches, JR €ˆMB €ˆTorri Campbell is averaging 3.43 kills per set compared to 2.71 in non-conference action, while FR €ˆOH €ˆAdri Nora is 3.29 to 2.97 in the same span.
Earlier this season, SR €ˆL Allison King broke the BU career digs record of 1,575 set by Cory Sivertson (1991-94). King's total currently sits at 1,745, ranking her sixth all-time in the Big 12.
